Today’s whale watching tour greeted us with bright sunshine and a moderate southwesterly wind.
Our journey took us to Raudavík, where we were treated to the incredible sight of three humpback whales — possibly even four! Among them was our familiar friend Disy, a whale we’ve been lucky to encounter many times before.
The whales were particularly active and curious today, surfacing close enough for us to hear their powerful breaths as they broke the surface. At one point, all three whales surfaced together — a breathtaking moment that left everyone onboard in awe.
In the afternoon we were heading back out to Raudavik, but on the way, we found a minke whale south of Hjalteryi. The minke was very shy, so we only stopped for a short time before heading out further north. By Raudavik, it was now four humpback whales feeding. They were very active and moved around a lot, but one came up right next to the boat and was incredible to see.
