Today we had a lovely day with yesterday's six humpback whales. The weather was not the best with constant rain and a thick cloud coverage. Nevertheless we went out on two Rib boat tours and could enjoy the humpbacks for the whole day long. We met Dark Knight, King Louis, Aramis, Porthos, Athos and D'Artagnan very closely and could enjoy their stunning presence. Interestingly they had split in a pair and a group of four individuals. When we took a closer look at the pictures after our tours, we just realized that we had witnessed some history here. Our four musketeers from previous days had split up and now we had Porthos, Athos, King Louis and Dark Knight travelling together. How interesting to observe that kind of social interaction over multiple days. Hopefully these awesome six whales will stay in our beautiful Eyjafjördur for a little while longer. What a great day when whales can capture you in a way that you forget the rain pouring down on you and only concentrate on the animals and the nature surrounding you.
