Well……even we have to admit that sometimes its tricky. Sadly most of our trips struggled today with big swell, light rain and white breaking waves it was easy for sneaky minkes and subtle bottlenose whales to slip by unnoticed. Many endurkoma return tickets were handed out. Holmasol, however, was our lucky boat this morning. Purely by chance out the corner of his eye the guide caught three big rolling backs panicked he shouted down the radio “ whales at 11….no .. 3….no 11”. Luckily our captains are trained in deciphering guide nonsense and Holmasol was treated to views of three Northern Bottlenose Whales managing to follow this up with a Minke Whale‍ feeding south of the fish factory at Hjalteyri. Even more impressively the same animals were found in the afternoon all be it with more calm by Yoann. Well….as calm as one can act when viewing these rare deep diving specialists.
