Today’s weather was good, we had a sunny and calm day in the fjord. The wind picked up slightly as we sailed further north.
We had the privilege of spotting one Humpback Whale only a few minutes into our tour! We encountered our well known Humpback named Piccolo inside Pollurinn. We immediately spotted very active lunge feeding and got to spot Piccolo repeatedly after very short deep dives. Mostly, it came up for one breath before arching the back and diving deeper again, but nevertheless we saw this whale plenty of times just inside our harbor area outside of Akureyri!
We additionally got to have a very close look at the warm waterfall across from town and also sailed out further north, continuously scanning the water surface, as always. We enjoyed the sunny winter day in Eyjafjörður a lot and are looking forward to more days like today!
