Sunday 12 June 2022

A relatively quiet day for us with only two tours heading out today (express tour at 1000 and classic at 1300), however, the fjord was anything but quiet. The morning rib sighted two beautiful humpback whales just off the isle of Hrísey. Yet, these 14m giants weren’t the star of the show for once, upstaged by a 38cm upstart the puffin. These birds are rare in the fjord so they always brighten our day when they appear. Although the puffins didn’t join us in the afternoon we were still best pleased with a great sighting of anther large humpback travelling south between Hrólfssker and Hrísey.
