After a stormy day followed by a stormy morning we were finally able to sail out on the first tour today in the afternoon. Just before leaving the harbour, our captain spotted a pod of Northern Bottlenose whales in Akureyri harbour but they went for a dive before we were able to come out there so we decided to head out north, as we didn’t know how far we will sail today. The sea conditions were still quite rough but it was so worth to go out as we found 3 Humpback whales, just north of Hjalteyri! Two of them are our regular visitors - Iskona, frequent visitor in winter and summer months since 2019 and Arheta Frankfin, also a frequent visitor in summer and winter but since August 2018. The third whale was the same and in the last days - still non-fluking so we were not be able to identify him so far.
