Winter is coming! Today we had our first snowfall of the season, with chilly temperatures our passengers were able to make good use of our warm overalls. Despite the dramatic weather forecast sailing conditions were very good and their was very little wind and swell. Here in the fjord we are very protected by the mountains and therefore, very rarely have to cancel our tours. Our morning tour found the wonderful “Jubilee! this marvelous humpback gave us quite a show as it surfaced all the way around the boat, bringing up its lovely fluke many times. Our afternoon tour found a different humpback whale called “Cosmos” which delighted us with some very close encounters. For example, one time he popped up right next to us, almost giving half of us heart attacks. We also saw a beautiful Northern Gannet, unfortunately this poor bird had some fishing line suck in its beak, unable to rid itself of this burden this poor gannet is slowly loosing its beak. This emphasizes the importance of cleaning up after ourselves and making sure we recycle and reduce the amounts of plastic and single use items we use as we never know where they may end up. A beautiful and eye opening day!
