A busy day with many passengers, tours and luckily also humpback whales awaited us in the fjord. We went out extra early under a cloudy, but dry sky. There was a little bit of wind to be felt on our faces and some white caps made the spotting slightly difficult. Nevertheless, we managed to find 5 to 6 humpback whales and a few harbour porpoises throughout the tour. They were doing their favorite thing, feeding on the rich plankton and small schooling fish stocks. Khaleesi and Victoria were the two individuals we recognized instantly. On some other whales we could see signs of entanglement in abandoned fishing gear. Nothing that is uncommon nowadays unfortunately. Hence, if you ever find abandoned fishing gear on your local beach make sure to pick it up and dispose it responsibly. A third whale delighted our RIB boat passengers with breaches and head slaps, a stunning thing to witness. We definitely had a good time today.
