What a day! We barely left the harbour when the captain spotted the first whale in the distance in front of us. We rushed into his direction to take a look before he goes for a dive and it turned out to be not one, but TWO Humpback whales, travelling together they were staying on the surface quite long. We spotted another blow a little behind us and one more on the other side of the boat. We were surrounded by 4 Humpback Whales very close to Akureyri and were lucky enough to have few incredible encounters when they showed up just meters away from us.
