Yet another stunning day out on the water today with warm temperatures, little wind and calm seas. The whales were as delightful as always, not only did we encounter our favorite humpback whale Iskona, but we were also delighted to see a minke whale who surfaced just beautifully, coming up many times, allowing us to see its pointed snout, long streamlined body and tail sickle shaped dorsal fin. Wonderful harbour porpoises also popped up throughout the day which added to our excitement of sailing the longest fjord in Iceland. Our wonderful humpbacks delighted us with some wonderful flukes and on occasion some very close encounters, due to Iskona’s curious nature. At one time we had stopped and turned our engines off and lovely Iskona came towards us and surfaced right in front of our boat, causing sequels of delight from all of our passengers. Iskona then arched her beautiful body and raised her fantastic fluke right into the air as she went for a deeper dive. Just magical!
