It was wonderfully flat as we headed out into the fjord, the wind was fairly calm and the surroundings warm for the time of year. After only a short sail our first humpbacks were spotted. Reykja & Daggers surfaced brilliantly close with only meters to spare from the boat. These animals surfaced a few times before going for a longer dive. At this point it was decided to head further out into the fjord to see if we could see some other whales. We were heavily rewarded, four or five humpbacks surfaced at varying distances. Including some of our regulars including Needle and Mariner. These we were able to watch for some time. When viewing one whale coming up slowly only 15 meters away it suddenly breached! and leaped out of the water shocking everyone on the boat! As it only did this once and no one was prepared unfortunately no pictures were taken but it was most definitely an unforgettable experience!
