The day started amazingly, with crystal clear waters on the fiord shining and gliding almost like a mirror. And that was not all. The almost mirror-like waters where boiling with frenetic activity! Several humpback whales were waiting for us in front of Hjalteri, the old herring factory. Between the morning and the afternoon we managed to see Van Gogh, Guillemot, Noir, Tequila Blanca, Fjall and Nonni. This last one was going to provide us a really beautiful spectacle in the afternoon, since the animal started to perform several tail-slappings. Was the animal exultant after a good day out of the bay, plenty of krill? Was instead a little hungry because of the close presence of the other whales? We may never know for sure. But what we do know, is that it was a really impressive way to finish another exciting day out in Eyjafjördur!
